Biography
Marie Wright-Travis’ practice is focused on employment, healthcare, business, and general commercial litigation matters. She brings over twenty years of legal and executive experience spanning both private industry and the public sector.
Before joining Dunn DeSantis Walt & Kendrick, Marie served as Associate General Counsel for the San Diego office of a pharmaceutical company and as an executive of the City of San Diego’s Public Utilities Department, overseeing Long-Range Water Resources, Finance and IT, and Customer Service.
Earlier in her career, Marie was Director of Legal at Amylin Pharmaceutical, Inc., a wholly owned subsidy of Bristol Meyers Squibb where she advised operations and manufacturing leadership to help bring several first-in-class therapeutics to market. She also served as a Deputy City Attorney for the City of San Diego, advising the Mayor, City Council, and City Engineer.
Marie began her legal career as law clerk to the Hon. Irma E. Gonzales (Ret.), the former Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the Southern District of California. She later practiced with DLA Piper, LLP (formerly Gray Cary Ware & Freidenrich, LLP), representing Fortune 100 and 500 companies and emerging businesses in securities, business, tort, construction, and professional, insurance, and general commercial litigation.
Marie has been involved in two legal matters that have resulted in published decisions:
- In Re Del Mission, Limited Debtor, the State of California State Board of Equalization; The State of California Employment Development Department, Appellants v. Harold S. Taxel, Trustee, Appellee, 998 F.2d 756 (9th 1993).
 
- Fourth District Court of Appeal, Ahern v. Dillenback (1991) 1 Cal.App.4th
