Biography
James’ practice focuses on the litigation of commercial and business disputes.
Prior to joining DDWK, James served as a Law Clerk to the Honorable Julien Xavier Neals in the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey, where he worked on judicial opinions and orders on a wide variety of matters including securities litigation and high-profile commercial disputes.
Earlier in his career, James was an Associate in the Global Finance Group at Sidley Austin LLP in Dallas, where he represented private equity funds, financial institutions, and commercial borrowers in syndicated credit facilities and fund financings. He then spent a year operating his own solo practice in Dallas, Texas, litigating commercial disputes in Texas state courts and serving as outside general counsel for a production company.
James earned his J.D. from Cornell Law School in 2022, where he served as a General Editor of the Journal of Law & Public Policy and as Chairman of the Codes & Judicial Committee of the Cornell University Assembly. He received CALI Awards for Academic Distinction in Property, Criminal Law, and Federal Criminal Practice. He also holds a B.A. in Political Science from Chapman University, graduating cum laude in 2018.
